Privacy Policy

CSSGen.dev is a free set of CSS tools. There are no accounts, nothing to sign up for, and nothing you make here is sent to a server. This page sets out exactly what is and is not collected.

The short version

  • Everything you build runs in your browser. Your CSS, colours and saved presets never leave your device.
  • No account, no email address, no sign-up.
  • Google Analytics records anonymous usage so we know which tools get used. It sets cookies.
  • Nothing is sold, rented or shared with advertisers.

What stays on your device

Every generator runs entirely in your browser. The CSS you produce, the colours you pick and the values you set are never transmitted anywhere.

Presets you save with “Save current”, your light or dark theme choice, and your output-format preference are kept in your browser’s localStorage. That data sits on your own device, is readable only by this site in that browser, and is not sent to us. Clearing your browser’s site data removes it permanently — there is no copy anywhere else.

What is collected

This site uses Google Analytics 4 to understand which generators people use and how they arrive. It records the page visited, approximate location derived from IP address, device and browser type, and referring site. It does not record anything you type into the generators.

Google Analytics sets cookies in your browser to recognise repeat visits. Google processes this data as described in its own privacy policy. You can opt out across all sites with Google’s opt-out browser add-on, or by blocking analytics in your browser or an extension — the generators work exactly the same either way.

Fonts and third parties

Typefaces are served from this domain rather than a font CDN, so loading a page makes no request to a third-party font service. Aside from Google Analytics, no advertising, tracking, social or embedded third-party scripts run on this site.

The placeholder image tool

Placeholder images are generated in your browser and never uploaded. The one exception is the optional “hosted” output, which produces a link to an external placeholder service — that link is only fetched if you choose that output and then load the resulting URL.

Your rights

If you are in the UK, EU or another region with comparable data protection law, you have the right to access, correct or erase personal data held about you, and to object to its processing. Because this site holds no accounts and no contact records, the only data that could relate to you is the anonymous analytics described above. Requests can be sent through the contact link in the footer.

Changes

If this policy changes, the date above changes with it. Material changes will be noted on this page rather than applied silently.
